Maharashtra: Man Detained For Acting Inappropriately Toward Korean Vlogger

According to authorities, a man was detained by the Pimpri Chinchwad police in the Pune region for acting inappropriately with a Korean female vlogger. Following the widespread success of a video featuring a Korean female vlogger shooting on the streets of Pune, police officers detained the accused. The Korean YouTuber, seen in the video wandering the city with a coconut in her hand, was harassed by the accused. In the video, a man can be seen improperly grabbing a female vlogger by wrapping his hand around her neck. In the video, the victim conveyed her unease by saying, “They really like to hug.”

The incident occurred during Deepawali in November in the Ravet neighborhood of Pune. Kelly, a Korean YouTuber, posted the video to her YouTube channel. Following its release, it went viral and incited anger among online users. Amid the massive uproar around the viral video, the Maharashtra Police took notice of the situation and detained the accused under Sections 294 (punishment for obscene acts or words in public) and 354 (assault or criminal force against a lady with intent to insult her modesty) of the IPC. “The Pimpari Chinchwad Police Crime Branch Unit located the man in the ravet area of Pimpri Chinchwad and took him into custody on Tuesday after seeing the widely shared video. After verifying the incident’s details, the police filed a formal complaint against him under IPC sections 354 and 294. “More investigation is ongoing,” stated ACP Satish Mane of the Pimpri Chinchwad police. “The incident happened in November during the Diwali celebration in the Ravit region of Pimpri Chinchwad. In the meantime, a South Korean YouTuber was harassed and groped by two individuals last year in Mumbai during a different incident that happened while she was live streaming from the Khar neighborhood. In a harassment case, the Mumbai Police took two people into custody on Thursday.
