Pune Bank Employee Murdered Over Mobile Hotspot Dispute; Four Arrested

In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through Pune, a bank employee named Vasudev Kulkarni was brutally murdered in the Hadapsar area late Sunday night. The 47-year-old was attacked with a machete after he refused to share his mobile hotspot with a group of four individuals, who were reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM as Kulkarni was walking near his residence in the Utkarshnagar area. According to police reports, the four suspects approached him and requested access to his mobile hotspot. When Kulkarni declined their request, the situation escalated into a violent confrontation. The attackers, fueled by alcohol, stabbed him multiple times, leading to fatal injuries.

Emergency services were alerted when passersby discovered Kulkarni lying in a pool of blood on the sidewalk. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Following the incident, Kulkarni’s brother filed a complaint at the Hadapsar police station, prompting an immediate investigation.

The police swiftly apprehended the four suspects, which included three minors and a 19-year-old identified as Mayur Bhosale. They have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder. Senior Inspector Santosh Pandhare, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that the suspects admitted to attacking Kulkarni after the argument over the hotspot escalated.

This tragic incident comes on the heels of another violent crime in Pune, where former NCP corporator Vanraj Andekar was shot dead in what is suspected to be linked to gang activity. Andekar was attacked on September 1, raising concerns about rising violence in the city.
