They also released that a total of 7305 tests were done in the last 24 hours, and the positivity rate stood at 2.02%.
A total of 1144 active cases were reported in the state as of Tuesday, and the case fatality rate stood at 0.67 percent. The department also said that yesterday, 55 people were hospitalized and 1089 patients were isolated in their homes. Bengaluru Rural reported 28 new COVID-19 cases, while Bengaluru Urban recorded 545 as of January 2. In the last 24 hours, 199 JN-1 variant cases were reported.
The Karnataka government formed a cabinet subcommittee to address the issue and keep an eye on the viral disease earlier in December, following an increase in COVID cases recorded in the state. Cabinet ministers Sharan Prakash Patil, HC Mahadevappa, MC Sudhakar, and Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao are on the committee. As of January 2, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported that there were 4565 active COVID cases in India.
