In the ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual assault against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested his father and JD(S) MLA H.D. Revanna. The arrest came after the People's Representative Court denied Revanna's anticipatory bail plea in connection with a kidnapping case filed at the K.R. Nagar police station in Mysuru district.
In a major development in the ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual assault against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested his father and JD(S) MLA H.D. Revanna. The arrest came after the People’s Representative Court denied Revanna’s anticipatory bail plea in connection with a kidnapping case filed at the K.R. Nagar police station in Mysuru district.
According to the details, the victim, who had allegedly been sexually abused by Prajwal Revanna, was kidnapped on April 29. The victim’s son had filed a complaint, naming H.D. Revanna as the primary accused and his associate Babanna as the second accused. The victim was later traced to a farmhouse in Hunsur, Mysuru district, and was brought to Bengaluru by the SIT officials.
The high-profile arrest took place at the residence of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, the father of H.D. Revanna. The SIT officials, who had intelligence that Revanna was hiding at his father’s residence, knocked on the gates, but were initially denied entry. However, Revanna eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
The development came on the same day when the SIT informed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that they would approach the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a blue corner notice to trace Prajwal Revanna, who is currently absconding. The SIT is investigating multiple cases of sexual assault against the MP and has conducted a spot mahazar at H.D. Revanna’s residence in Holenarasipur, Hassan district, where the alleged crimes took place.
The SIT officials were accompanied by the victim and her mother, who had filed a complaint against Prajwal Revanna and H.D. Revanna. Additionally, the SIT has issued a notice to Bhavani Revanna, the wife of H.D. Revanna, to appear before them for questioning when required.
The arrest of H.D. Revanna, a prominent JD(S) leader, has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of Karnataka, further intensifying the ongoing corruption scandal that has engulfed the state’s political elite. The case has raised serious questions about the integrity of the political system and the need for stronger measures to address the issue of sexual assault and abuse of power by public representatives.
