In Tirumala, Lord Venkateswara is worshipped as per the Vaikhanasa Agama rituals. 650 years ago, the Lord appeared in a priest’s dream, directing him to retrieve idols from Malayappa Kona and consecrate them as ceremonial deities. The cave idols were found glowing mysteriously. Since then, Malayappa Swamy has been paraded daily through the streets of Mada.
