Delhi’s courts entered the AI era with the launch of their first ‘Pilot Hybrid Court,’ featuring a ‘Speech-to-Text Facility.’ This AI technology will assist judges by recording and converting evidence into text, saving time and improving efficiency for judges and court staff.
Acting Chief Justice Manmohan inaugurated the courtroom and a new digital court app at Tis Hazari Court, and he also launched a digital court app. On the one hand, it will enhance the working capacity of judges and court staff, particularly stenographers.
During the event, Justice Manmohan said that this technology must be utilized to enhance the legal system and that it will reduce delays in justice delivery. Notably, the pilot hybrid court has a speech-to-text facility for evidence recording.
Justice Manmohan stressed that the only way to ensure that the system works properly is to ensure that good technology is brought into the system. He also termed the speech-to-text facility for evidence recording a very powerful tool, and it has the potential to become a game-changer.
He said that all efforts are underway to develop hybrid court facilities in all 691 district courtrooms in the National Capital, with a budget of ₹ 387 crore. Interestingly, these 14 pilot projects are in the pipeline.
