The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted a retest of the NEET-UG examination on Sunday for 1,563 candidates at six centers in four states and a Union Territory. According to the testing panel, 813 of the 1,563 candidates appeared for the retest, while 750 candidates skipped the exam.
The retest was organized after the NTA withdrew the grace marks awarded to students who were compensated for the loss of time due to delays in the start of the examination at six centers in Meghalaya, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Chandigarh.
In Chandigarh, two students were scheduled to take the NEET-UG retest, but neither of them turned up at the exam center. In Chhattisgarh, 291 out of 602 eligible candidates appeared for the exam at the two centers. The arrangements were made for 494 candidates in Haryana, and 287 students took the test. In Meghalaya, 234 out of 464 eligible candidates appeared for the retest. [3] In Gujarat, the retest was held for one candidate.
The NTA had withdrawn the compensatory marks awarded to these 1,563 candidates following a Supreme Court order. The committee established by the NTA had decided to cancel the scorecards of these candidates and offered them the option of a retest as a remedy. The result for the retest is expected to be announced before June 30.
