The greatest works of Rabindranath Tagore are in the fields of politics and Bengali literature. In many artistic fields, his plays, novels, short stories, songs, and poems are still admired and studied. In 1913, he became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature for his contributions to world literature.
He was born in Kolkata on May 7, 1861. Tagore, also known as ‘Gurudev’ or the Bard of Bengal, was known for his deep curiosity and exploring spirit. In addition to creating over 3,000 paintings, he wrote over 2,230 songs.
While Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti is observed nationwide, different parts of West Bengal experience its magnificence more than others. He wrote the national anthems for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and India.
