Vijay Thalapathy Unveils Party’s Flag And Anthem Today
Popular Tamil actor Vijay Thalapathy, who boasts a massive fan base, unveiled the flag and anthem of his political party, Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Chennai, marking a key step toward the 2026 assembly polls.
Popular Tamil actor Vijay Thalapathy, who boasts a massive fan base, unveiled the flag and anthem of his political party, Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Chennai, marking a key step toward the 2026 assembly elections.
The TVK flag features maroon with a yellow band, depicting two tuskers and a Vaagai flower. Vijay emphasized, “This flag represents not just the party, but Tamil Nadu’s victory.”
“I’ll explain the anthem’s meaning later and announce the date and venue for the party’s inaugural conference,” Vijay added. He also urged supporters to celebrate the flag hoisting across the state with proper permissions.
With a massive following and long-held political ambitions, Vijay announced his intention to contest the 2026, aiming to combat corruption and promote good governance.
In the past two years, Vijay has engaged with young and first-time voters by awarding cash prizes to class twelve toppers and their families in various constituencies. His teams have also supported communities through free food, library setups, and legal assistance.
Vijay’s political debut is notable, following a tradition in Tamil Nadu where scriptwriters and actors have become chief ministers, including Annadurai, Karunanidhi, MGR, and Jayalalithaa.
In recent decades, Tamil Nadu has seen mixed success with actors in politics. Veteran Sivaji Ganesan and popular stars Vijayakanth and Sarath Kumar did not advance past initial successes. Superstar Rajinikanth chose to stay out of politics, and Kamal Haasan has yet to make a significant impact.
Despite this, Vijay’s fans are hopeful for his success, noting that he is entering politics at the peak of his film career, unlike others who joined at the end of their careers.
With Vijay’s entry, the 2026 Tamil Nadu state polls might feature a five-cornered contest. In addition to the two Dravidian parties, DMK and AIADMK, the BJP is expected to contest independently, and Director Seeman is also likely to run solo. The ruling DMK has already fielded Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, an actor and youth wing leader, to challenge Vijay.
