PM Modi is closely monitoring the situation in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, following heavy rains and cloudbursts. He has instructed top officials to provide all necessary assistance to those affected, with relief operations in full swing.
Concurrently, Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi contacted Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to discuss the severe disruptions caused by cloudbursts in Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu districts, calling the events extremely sad.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and said that the news of the deaths and disappearances caused by cloudbursts and heavy rains in Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu is extremely sad.
He also said, “I extend my deepest condolences to all affected families during this difficult time.” He also mentioned that the NDRF, SDRF, and state administration are actively involved in relief efforts.
The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister reported that approximately 50 people are missing and 2 bodies have been recovered following cloudbursts in Mandi, Shimla, and Kullu districts.
He noted that the NDRF, SDRF, district commissioners, and other officials are on-site, with instructions for comprehensive arrangements and assistance from the army. He urged people to stay away from canals and rivers and mentioned that the Air Force is on standby.
