The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) acquired 3 acres of land from Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi in Kesare, Mysore, for development in 2021. In return, she was allotted land in Vijayanagar, in south Mysore.
As the price of land there is much higher than in Kesare, it has become a topic of discussion. As a result, there were allegations of irregularities in the allotment of these lands by Muda. The governor of that state approved prosecuting CM Siddaramaiah in this matter.
The scam allegedly involves large-scale embezzlement and misappropriation of funds intended for urban development projects in Mysuru. It has raised serious concerns about financial management and transparency within MUDA.
The scam has implicated several high-ranking officials and contractors associated with MUDA. These individuals are accused of orchestrating the fraudulent activities, including inflating project costs and diverting funds.
The fraudulent activities reportedly include fake billing, unauthorized expenditures, and kickbacks. The misuse of development funds meant for infrastructure and public services has been a major aspect of the scam.
The scam has led to public outrage and demands for accountability. It has highlighted the need for stricter oversight and transparency in urban development projects to prevent such incidents in the future.
