The morning in Delhi turned pleasant today as the national capital and its adjoining areas received rain, bringing relief from the oppressive heat and humidity. An orange alert has been issued for Delhi, its neighboring areas, Punjab, and Haryana due to the forecast of heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department classifies very heavy rain as between 124.5 mm and 244.4 mm in a day. On Monday, Delhi experienced a sudden weather shift, with heavy rain affecting parts of the city. In June, Delhi recorded its highest rainfall in 88 years, with 228 mm of rain from 8:30 a.m. on June 27 to 8:30 a.m. on June 28. In total, 235.5 mm of rain was recorded, marking the highest 24-hour rainfall in June since 1936. However, the heavy rains have caused the Yamuna River’s water levels to rise, leading authorities to issue alerts for residents of Noida villages along the riverbanks. These communities faced severe flooding last year during the monsoon season, leading to significant disruption for both Delhi and Noida residents.
