On Wednesday morning, Air India successfully transported 205 people, including six infants, from Dhaka to New Delhi. The special chartered flight, operated by an A321 neo aircraft, departed Dhaka late Tuesday. This emergency flight was arranged on short notice, with Air India navigating infrastructure challenges at Dhaka Airport. The return flight, which brought 199 adults and six infants back to India, had been organized to address the immediate travel needs amid ongoing political instability in Bangladesh.
On Tuesday, Air India had to cancel its morning flight to Dhaka but managed to operate the evening flight. The airline is set to resume regular operations with two daily flights from New Delhi to Dhaka starting Wednesday. Meanwhile, other major carriers, Vistara and IndiGo, also had to adjust their schedules due to the unrest in Bangladesh. Vistara, which typically offers daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly services from Delhi to Dhaka, had canceled its flights on Tuesday. IndiGo, usually providing one daily flight from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, along with two daily services from Kolkata to Dhaka, also suspended its flights on the same day. The disruptions in flight operations come in the wake of significant political turmoil in Bangladesh. Protests over job quota issues led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was forced to flee the country, exacerbating the uncertainty and affecting international travel.
