AP CM Chandrababu’s meeting with Union Hydropower Minister CR Patil concluded in Delhi. The main discussion was about the Polavaram project. After the meeting, Chandrababu revealed that the Investment Board has approved the expenditure of funds on the Polavaram project. He explained that the issue of the Investment Board should be taken forward by the Union Cabinet.
Chandrababu clarified that there is no first phase or second phase in Polavaram and their goal is to complete the project. He said he requested Center to take an immediate decision on the Polavaram project works. Adding that if a decision is not taken soon, Andhra will lose another season, he explained.
The Andhra Pradesh CM said that the state cabinet’s decision to construct a new diaphragm wall has been handed over to Union Minister CR Patil. He said that if the work starts after the flood recedes, it will take another two years for the project to complete.
Chandrababu asked the Center to implement the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act and pay the old dues to the state.
He said that AP is lagging behind in Swachh Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission programs. “It is sad that AP is in the third position from the last in the implementation of these two schemes. The central funds were diverted during the YCP regime. Debts have increased and the development has stagnated during the YCP regime and the Polavaram project was destroyed,” the CM added.
