Telangana CM Reveals 5 Lakh In Health Benefits & Insurance For Gig Workers
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that gig workers, including those who deliver meals and operate taxis and autorickshaws, will be eligible for accident insurance worth Rs 5 lakh from the state government. He also promised the gig workers that the government would offer them health coverage worth Rs 10 lakh through the Rajiv Arogyasri plan, according to an official statement released on Saturday.

He also promised the gig workers that the government would offer them health coverage worth Rs 10 lakh through the Rajiv Arogyasri plan, according to an official statement released on Saturday. The chief minister stated the state government will offer social security to workers in the unorganized sectors and will make a policy decision in this direction while attending a gathering of cab and autorickshaw drivers and executives involved in food delivery.
As per the announcement, Reddy pledged that the state government would examine the current policy in Rajasthan regarding gig workers and provide a viable bill during the upcoming state budget session. He also disclosed financial support of Rs 2 lakh to the family of a food delivery executive who succumbed to a fall from a building four months prior. According to the statement, the chief minister gave the drivers of taxis and autorickshaws, as well as those who carry food, advice on how to apply for the Grama Sabhas, which will take place from December 28 to January 6.
