The 25-year-old Israeli resident of Kibbutz Be’eri, Sahar Baruch, was held captive on October 7 and passed away while in captivity, the community revealed on Saturday. In a joint statement with the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, the kibbutz said, “It is with great sadness and a broken heart that we announce the murder of Sahar Baruch, who was kidnapped from his home by Hamas terrorists to Gaza on Black Saturday and murdered there.” “On October 7, Hamas killed his brother Idan. We join in the unfathomable sorrow of his brothers Guy and Niv, parents Tami and Roni, relatives, and all of his loved ones. As a condition of any hostage return agreement, we will demand the return of his body. We’re not going to give up until everyone gets home.” The declaration was issued in reaction to a propaganda video that Hamas published on Friday, which purported that Baruch had died in an Israeli attempt to free hostages. The IDF refuted Hamas’s assertion, asserting that Baruch was killed by the terrorist organization. Baruch was a student at Ben Gurion University studying engineering. Hamas slaughtered 100 inhabitants of Be’eri on October 7, including his brother Idan and grandmother Geula Bachar. On October 7, Hamas launched strikes on Israeli communities close to the Gaza border, resulting in at least 1,200 fatalities. 137 men, women, kids, soldiers, and foreigners are being held captive in Gaza by Hamas at the moment. As Israeli authorities continue to identify the dead and look for human remains, several people are still missing.
