Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the legislative house on Friday that the Maharashtra police had recently found drugs in the state valued at over ₹ 50,000 crore. He was responding to a query from Mumbai legislator Ravindra Waikar of the Shiv Sena (UBT), who represents the Jogeshwari East constituency. The Mumbai police made a significant discovery lately when they apprehended over a dozen individuals from other locations and confiscated 151 kg of mephedrone valued at ₹ 300 crore. The operation also involved a raid on a factory located in MIDC Shinde Gaon, Nashik district.
In the recent past, drugs valued at ₹ 50,000 crore have been recovered by the police. To combat the drug problem, the police quietly tracked down 2,200 tiny businesses in Mumbai that were selling drugs and closed them down, according to Mr. Fadnavis. However, the deputy chief minister did not state precisely when the drugs were taken into custody. Following the Mumbai police’s ₹ 300-crore narcotics seizure, the ruling party and the opposition have been going after each other over key accused Lalit Patil.
