Following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments regarding Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, a number of Congress Members walked out of Parliament session today. Amit Shah stated in the Lok Sabha made “two blunders” that led to great suffering in Jammu and Kashmir: first, by calling for a truce; and second, by taking the Kashmir issue to the United Nations.
The Union Home Minister said, “Had Jawaharlal Nehru taken right steps, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir would have been part of India now; it was historic blunder.” Amit Shah attributed the issue with Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) to the previous prime minister. The reason behind Pakistan’s occupation of Kashmir is Pandit Nehru. Had it not been so, Kashmir would have possessed that portion. POK was Nehruji’s fault,” Shah stated.
Further he also said that Nehru ji said that it was an error of his, but It wasn’t an error. The Home Minister claimed that Nehru made two “blunders” that caused Jammu and Kashmir to suffer: declaring a truce and bringing the Kashmir dispute to the UN. During a discussion on the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, Shah made these comments.
