In an effort to restore power to areas devastated by cyclones in districts such as Nellore, Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna, Chittoor, Kurnool, West and East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram, The Special Chief Secretary for Energy, K. Vijayanand, convened a review meeting on Tuesday to evaluate the damage to electrical infrastructure resulting from the ongoing Michaung storm. Special teams that he has assembled are entering the impacted areas to begin work on restoring power. According to Vijayanand, unfavorable weather conditions are the reason Krishnapatnam units 2 and 3 have failed. Water logging at the station has prompted the cautious disconnection of the lines connecting to 132 KV SS Chendodu. There have been a few impacted 220 KV feeders, six 132 KV feeders, and 100 MVA PTRs. With the exception of Chendodu, the Special CS emphasized that there has been no load loss related to the trip. Engineers have been assigned to monitor feeder breakdowns. The 132 KV Guduru feeder has been charged in order to put the 132 and 33 KV SS Chendodu into operation. The bulk of the Nellore district’s substations, according to Vijayanand, are severely waterlogged. As soon as the water recedes, restoration efforts will begin on a war footing. The special chief secretary was notified by APGENCO managing director K.V.N. Chakradharbabu that coal feeding measures had been taken at Krishnapatnam units 1 and 2, and plans were on to resume power generation. In the Nellore, Tirupati, and Kadapa circles, three EHT substations, forty-three 33/11 KV substations, fifty-four 33 KV feeders, sixty-four 33 KV poles, twenty-five 11 KV poles, and eighty-five DTRs have all returned to normal, according to APSPDCL chairman and MD K. Santosh Rao.
