Siddipet Municipality has once again won the Swachha Survekshan award in the citizen’s feedback category at the zonal level. It is known that Siddipet municipality comes under the Siddipet district of Telanana. The popular ‘Swachh Survekshan’ is a ranking exercise taken up by the central government to review rural and urban areas for their levels of cleanliness and active implementation of Swachhata mission initiatives in a timely manner.
Former Telangana minister for irrigation, marketing, and legislative affairs, Harish Rao, has hailed the citizens of Siddipet and civic staff for their role in making Siddipet a better place. Meanwhile, Siddipet Civic Body has already won several prestigious awards over the years and has bagged another award now. However, Harish Rao has been an MLA from Siddipet constituency for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi party since 2004.
It is known that the Union Ministry of Urban Development looks up the Swachh Survekshan in urban areas and the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation in rural areas. In addition to that, the Quality Council of India (QCI) has been commissioned with the responsibility of carrying out the assessment. However, the survey also intends to foster a spirit of healthy competition among towns and cities to improve their service delivery to citizens and create cleaner cities and towns.
