The Telangana Police has achieved a significant milestone with 19 of its personnel qualifying for deployment in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission (UNPM). This selection comes after a rigorous examination conducted by the ITBP 22nd Battalion in Delhi, held between June 6 and 15. The examination saw participation from 225 police personnel representing various states across India, out of which 164 successfully cleared the tests.
The selection process included assessments in driving, firing, and other specialized skills crucial for peacekeeping operations. Overseen by foreign officers from New York, the tests aimed to evaluate the readiness and competence of the candidates for deployment in conflict zones.
Among those selected from Telangana are notable names such as SP Devendrasingh from the Cyber Security Bureau, DSPs Challa Sridhar, Pratap, Jupalli Ramesh, Majid Ali Khan, Sridhar Reddy, KM Kirankumar, Narsinga Rao, and Alex. Additionally, Inspectors Suresh and Vijaykumar, along with Head Constables Yadagiri and Srinivasulu, have also been included in the mission.
The Central government will facilitate their deployment to countries facing internal crises as part of the UN Peacekeeping Mission. This opportunity not only highlights the expertise and capabilities of Telangana Police but also underscores India’s commitment to global peace and security through active participation in international peacekeeping efforts.
