Leaders from coalition partners have also been appointed to the cabinet. JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, HAM (Secular) chairman Jitan Ram Manjhi, JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’, TDP’s K Ram Mohan Naidu, and LJP-RV leader Chirag Paswan swore in as cabinet members. The five allies received one cabinet seat each, reflecting the coalition’s broad support.
Age and Educational Status of Union Ministers:
The age distribution of the new ministers reveals a mix of expertise and youthful vigor. Ministers range in age from 31 to 80 years, with 47 ministers (66%) aged between 51 and 70. Additionally, 11 ministers (15%) have studied only until Class 12, while 57 (80%) have a graduate or a higher degree. Three ministers are diploma holders.
Criminal History of Ministers:
The number of ministers with stated criminal cases is a big source of concern for the new council. Of the 71 ministers analyzed, 28 (39%) face criminal charges. This includes 19 ministers (27%) facing serious criminal allegations such as attempted murder, kidnapping, and crimes against women.
Notably, Shantanu Thakur, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, and Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education and the Development of the North Eastern Region, face attempted murder charges under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code. In addition, five ministers face charges connected to crimes against women.
Financial Backgrounds of Ministers:
The new ministry is primarily made up of rich people. An incredible 70 out of 71 ministers (99%) are crorepatis. The average asset worth for these ministers is ₹107.94 crore, with six declaring assets surpassing ₹100 crore. The concentration of wealth among ministers highlights the financial disparities in the political environment.
