India reported 441 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there have been no fresh deaths for the last 24 hours, maintaining the country’s death toll at 5,33,412. Meanwhile, the total number of active COVID-19 cases fell to 3,238 from Monday’s 3,919.
Recently, the highest single-day rise of 841 cases was reported on December 31, 2023, which was 0.2% of the peak cases reported in May 2021. However, of the 3,238 active cases, a large majority (nearly 92%) are recovering from home isolation. Meanwhile, as of January 11, 2024, a total of 827 cases of the COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 were reported across 12 states in India.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s latest report, the highest number of COVID-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra with 250, Karnataka with 199, and Kerala with 155. Meanwhile, other remaining states reporting the COVID-19 cases include Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Delhi, Odisha, and Haryana. However, a total of 220.67 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across the nation so far.
