Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka of Telangana unveiled a vote-on-account budget today, estimating that it will cost Rs 2,75,891 crore for the 2024–2025 fiscal year. The revised budget for 2023–24, estimated at Rs 2,24,624 crore, was provided by the BRS last year. The original budget was Rs 2,90,296 crore.
Bhatti stated that the capital expenditure is Rs 24,178 crore and the revenue expenditure is Rs 1,69,141 crore, according to the updated estimates for 2023–2024. Regarding the state’s financial crisis, Vikramarka also criticized the former BRS administration under KCR.
A detailed breakdown of budgetary allotments by sector: There is a total budget of Rs 2,75,891 crore; Abhayahastham schemes under six guarantees are worth Rs 53,196 crore; industries are worth Rs 2,543 crore; information technology is worth Rs 774 crore; panchayat raj and rural development is worth Rs 40,080 crore; Musi Riverfront Development is worth Rs 1,000 crore; and municipal administration and urban development is worth Rs 11,692 crore.
Conversely, the following sectors have higher funding: education at Rs 21,389 crore, medical and health at Rs 11,500 crore, housing at Rs 7,740 crore, irrigation at Rs 28,024 crore, minority welfare at Rs 2,262 crore, agriculture at Rs 19,746 crore, and SC and ST welfare at Rs 21,874 crore, Rs 13,313 crore, and Rs 2,262 crore.
