The Amarnath Yatra 2024 has set a new record with over 4.71 lakh devotees visiting so far, surpassing last year's total of 4.45 lakh. On Wednesday, another 1,654 pilgrims departed from Jammu for the Valley.
Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akti or Akha Teej, is an annual Jain and Hindu spring festival. It falls on the third tithi (lunar day) of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the month of Vaisakha.
Devotees take a sankalp of silence (mauna vrata) to observe spiritual elevation on this day. It is also known that Mauni Amavasya is a very auspicious day to take a holy bath, or'snana' in a holy river, particularly in the Ganga.
The Srisailam temple Executive Officer (EO) Peddiraju revealed that devotees have donated Rs 4,83,53,238 for a period of 28 days, from December 13, 2023, to January 9, 2024.
