Test Player Who Appears In 10 Matches Can Gain ₹4.50 Crore: BCCI
The board secretary, Jay Shah, announced that the BCCI will offer an incentive of ₹45 lakh per game to all players who play 75% or more of the scheduled red-ball games in a given season.
The board secretary, Jay Shah, announced that the BCCI will offer an incentive of ₹45 lakh per game to all players who play 75% or more of the scheduled red-ball games in a given season. A Test player can earn ₹4.50 crore as an incentive and ₹1.5 crore (15 lakh per game) in regular match fees who play up to 10 Tests in a season.
Legendary cricketers Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav, who did not sign contracts this year, will receive their “incentives” for the previous season. Jay Shah further said that the scheme allows the players to earn more than their IPL contracts.
This demonstrates the importance of bilateral Test cricket in addition to the IPL. The entire outflow will be ₹45 crore, Shah added. Starting with the 2022–23 season, the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ will act as a supplementary reward system on top of the present match fee for Test matches, which is fixed at ₹15 lakh, he added.
The incentives will be retrospective, taking into account players who played Test cricket during the 2022–23 season. He further continued that a player who has played 6 Tests in a season will receive ₹90 lakh as an existing match fee (₹15×6) and an incentive of ₹1.8 crore (₹30×6), bringing his total match money and incentives to ₹2.70 crore.
