Axar Patel’s ranking in T20I bowlers advanced 12 places to a career-best fifth position. This is among bowlers, as a clutch of India players made significant gains in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings. This comes after a strong performance in the series against Afghanistan.
Team India registered identical six-wicket wins over Afghanistan in the first two T20Is of their three-match series. Axar registered impressive hauls of two for 23 and two for 16 in these two matches. This performance also lifted him two places to 16th among the T20I all-rounders rankings.
The ICC released its latest weekly rankings update on Wednesday, which takes into consideration all matches completed until Tuesday. Team India’s young opener Yashaswi Jaiswal’s 34-ball 68 in the first T20I in Indore also helped to increase his ranking.
It lifted him seven places to a career-best sixth position, while another left-hander Shivam Dube’s successive unbeaten knocks of 60 and 63 helped him shoot up from 265th to 58th rank. India’s Suryakumar Yadav is leading the T20I batter rankings with 869 rating points. He is followed by England’s Phil Salt (802), Mohammed Rizwan (775), Babar Azam (763), and Aiden Markram (755).
