Renowned freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad was born on July 23, 1906, in the Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh, in the small village of Bhavra. At the age of 15, he was deeply impacted by the British murder of thousands of innocent Indians in Jallianwala Bagh, Punjab.
An important factor in Azad’s decision to join the Indian independence movement was that incident. Azad was imprisoned several times during his life because of his several protests against British rule. He was well-known for his pivotal role in the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association’s (HRA) reorganization. At a young age, he participated in radical activities.
In his best years, he was fascinated by the development of Mahatma Gandhi’s nonviolent, noncooperation movement. Chandra Shekhar Azad’s most significant turning point in his journey was the Kakori plot.
On February 27, 1931, Azad unfortunately lost his life in an encounter with British forces at Alfred Park. After this incident, every year his death anniversary is celebrated on February 27 to remember the veteran hero.
