The Champai Soren government in Jharkhand will face a crucial floor test at 11 a.m. today, February 5, 2024. Section 144 was imposed near Jharkhand assembly premises in view of the upcoming special session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly today.
According to government sources, the Ranchi district administration has imposed Section 144 of CrPC within a 100-meter radius of the assembly building. As per the order, several restrictions will be imposed today from 8:00 a.m. until Tuesday at 10:00 p.m.
The district administration officials stressed that the directives prohibit any form of procession, rally, protest, demonstration, or encroachment in the specified area. The restrictions prohibit the gathering of five or more individuals, except for government officials and employees engaged in official duties.
Earlier on Friday, Champai Soren officially took the oath as the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi. Champai Soren is one of the key leaders of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party. Champai Soren is the former state transport minister, and he represents the Seraikella constituency in Jharkhand.
A total of 81 legislators are in the Jharkhand assembly. In this, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has 29 seats, its ally, the Congress, has 17 seats, and the RJD and the CPI (ML) have 1 seat each. On the opposition bench, the Bharatiya Janata Party has 26 seats, AJSU has 3, and others.
