In the midst of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, India voted in favor of the UNGA resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. A minimum of 153 countries cast ballots in support of the resolution, ten—including the US and Austria—voted against it, and twenty-three abstained. According to Ruchira Kamboj, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, there is a serious humanitarian catastrophe and a significant death toll. Kamboj also emphasized that India supports the international community’s unity in identifying areas of agreement to address the various issues the region is now facing.
