Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi performed special prayers at Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam in Tiruchirapalli district on Tuesday. During the visit, RN Ravi and his wife Lakshmi also cleaned the premises of the historical and auspicious Ramanathaswamy temple. Meanwhile, RN Ravi has responded to PM Modi’s call to take up cleaning of all temples and other places of worship across the country ahead of the Ram Lalla Pran Pratista in Ayodhya on January 22.
After visiting the Ranganathaswamy temple, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi highlighted the significance of temples in our culture and traditions. Governor Ravi also elaborated on the importance of cleaning temples and how devotees are responsible regarding the matter. In addition to that, Governor Ravi lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his massive nationwide cleanliness drive.
According to UNESCO, Srirangam is considered the biggest functioning Hindu temple in the world. The Ranganathaswamy Temple is constructed in Hindu architectural style, and it follows and worships the Thenkalai tradition of Sri Vaishnavism. It is known that Ramanuja (11th century), one of the most celebrated theologians of Hinduism, made his monastic home by the temple at Srirangam.
