ED Likely To Issue 4th Summons To CM Kejriwal In Liquor Policy Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is likely to issue its fourth summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is likely to issue its fourth summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. ED will issue fresh summons after examining CM Kejriwal’s reply regarding his refusal to attend the central agency in the excise policy case. Meanwhile, security tightened outside the residence of Delhi CM Kejriwal in view of the fresh summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the same case.
However, the ED is currently examining Kejriwal’s five-page reply sent to the ED officials yesterday. Meanwhile, CM Kejriwal also questioned the timing of the notice as a move to stop him from electioneering ahead of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls in April and May 2024. In February 2023, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI for irregularities in the implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi’s new excise policy.
However, CM Kejriwal was first called by the central agency to appear on November 2, 2023, but he did not depose, alleging that the notice was vague, motivated, and unsustainable in law. He also alleged that the said ED summons appeared to be politically motivated and issued for extraneous considerations.
