Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with the excise policy case, has been facing health issues, according to his Aam Aadmi Party officials. AAP claims their national convener, Kejriwal, has lost weight and his blood sugar levels have been fluctuating since his incarceration.
AAP’s Delhi government has expressed concerns over Kejriwal’s health and has requested the court to allow him to undergo medical check-ups outside of Tihar Jail. The government has also requested that Kejriwal be provided with a special diet to manage his health issues.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh has also raised concerns over Kejriwal’s health, stating that the chief minister has lost 8.5 Kgs weight and his blood sugar levels have been fluctuating since his incarceration. The party has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government of targeting the party and its leaders, and has demanded that Kejriwal be provided with proper medical care.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on May 14, 2023, in connection with the excise policy case. He was later sent to judicial custody by a special CBI court.
The excise policy case revolves around allegations of irregularities in the implementation of the Delhi government’s liquor policy. The CBI has alleged that Kejriwal and other AAP leaders were involved in a conspiracy to provide undue benefits to liquor licensees.
AAP has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and has accused the BJP of using central agencies like the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to harass opposition leaders. The party has also accused the BJP of targeting the party and its leaders.
The case has sparked a political controversy in Delhi, with both the AAP and the BJP engaging in a war of words over the issue. The case is currently being investigated by the CBI and the ED, and several other AAP leaders have also been questioned in connection with the case.
As Kejriwal continues to face health issues in jail, the Delhi government and the AAP have demanded that he be provided with proper medical care and that the case against him be dropped. The case has also raised questions about the treatment of political prisoners in India and the use of central agencies to target opposition leaders.
