West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee declared the TMC candidates for the 18th Lok Sabha polls at a poll rally in Brigade Parade Grounds, Kolkata. During the rally, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party supremo declared its full list of candidates for West Bengal.
Among the list are CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee to contest from Diamond Harbour and former well-known MP Mahua Moitra to contest from Krishnanagar. Former cricketer Yousuf Pathan will contest from Baharampur, and he will face West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
In addition to that, star actor Shatrughan Sinha is again contesting from the Asansol seat. Meanwhile, former MP Haji Nurul Islam replaces actor Nusrat Jahan from the Basirhat constituency.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Lok Sabha poll notification is likely to be held on March 13, 2024. It is known that the TMC won 22 out of all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
