The central government has granted Z+ security protection to Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. In this regard, the Union Home Ministry today declared that the Z+ security cover of the CRPF has been extended to Governor Arif Khan.
The Kerala Governor, Arif Khan, earlier today staged an impromptu sit-in on the roadside at Nilamel in Kollam, Kerala, against a SFI black flag protest against his motorcade. Khan stepped out of the car and sat on a chair on the roadside, refusing to move unless the protestors were taken into custody.
The Kerala Governor, Khan, demanded a copy of the FIR against the protestors. Khan also alleged that CM Pinarayi Vijayan was to blame for the lawlessness in the state. However, the CRPF will soon take over the security of the Kerala Governor, who until then was receiving state-category security cover.
It is known that Khan was appointed Governor of Kerala on September 1, 2019 by the order of the President of India. He took charge as governor on September 6, 2019, from P. Sathasivam. He is also a former Union Minister, and he has conducted several portfolios ranging from energy to civil aviation.
