RPF Foundation Day: Why Sept 20 Marks A Turning Point

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) was granted the status of an ‘Armed Force of the Union’ on 20 September 1985, after being constituted in 1957 to protect railway property. The amendment empowered it legally to arrest, prosecute and ensure passenger safety and security of stations. Every year its Raising Day reaffirms RPF’s commitment to public safety.
