Centre Mulls 2-Year Term For Parliamentary Standing Committees

The central government is considering extending the tenure of parliamentary standing committees from one to two years, following a proposal by the opposition. The suggestion aims to enable more thorough scrutiny of bills and laws. Currently, there are 24 standing committees, each comprising 31 members and functioning with a one-year term.
