The by-poll for the Ponda Assembly constituency seat has been officially cancelled after a ruling by the Bombay High Court. Petitioners argued that the election notification was invalid since the Goa Legislative Assembly’s term is under one year. The court also upheld the claim, quashing the EC notification and halting the planned by-poll today.
