If you prefer paying for home deliveries in cash, you’ve likely faced the hassle of finding exact change, especially when the delivery agent doesn’t have any. This inconvenience can lead to frustrating scenarios, such as needing to search for change or switching to online payment methods. Zomato has now introduced a feature designed to address this issue.
On August 7, 2024, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal announced a new development via his X handle. He explained that starting today, customers can pay delivery partners in cash and opt to have any excess amount instantly credited to their Zomato Money account.
This balance can then be used for future deliveries or dining out. Goyal credited this innovation to inspiration from BigBasket’s similar feature and acknowledged the contributions of Zomato’s delivery partners, some of whom work as product managers for the company.
The new feature aims to streamline the cash-on-delivery process by eliminating the need for exact change. For example, if you pay ₹600 for a ₹530 order, the ₹70 balance will be credited to your Zomato Money account. The response on social media has been positive, with users appreciating the added convenience and the company’s proactive approach to learning from others.
