Saudi King Suffering From High Fever, To Undergo Medical Tests

In less than a month, King Salman of Saudi Arabia will go through his second round of medical exams due to his high fever and joint pain. According to an official report, the Royal Court announced in a statement that the tests will be conducted at a facility at the Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.

The 88-year-old King Salman has ruled since 2015. Although his 38-year-old son Mohammed bin Salman was named crown prince in 2017 and takes on the role of day-to-day governing.

Rarely is the health of the monarch discussed, but in April, the Royal Court revealed that he had been taken to King Faisal Specialist Hospital for routine examinations. Later in the day, he left the hospital.

His last hospital admission before that occurred in May 2022, at the time that he had a colonoscopy and needed to stay for some time to rest in addition to more testing. For years, Saudi Arabia, the largest oil exporter in the world, has worked to allay concerns about King Salman’s health.

Riyadh denied rumors and growing conjecture in 2017 that the monarch intended to abdicate and hand the throne to Prince Mohammed.
