“Once We Get Copy Of ASI Report, We Will Study It”
In the Gyanvapi-Kashi Vishwanath Temple dispute, advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, speaking for the Hindu side, stated that "they will study it" as soon as they have a copy of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) report.
In the ongoing Gyanvapi-Kashi Vishwanath Temple dispute, advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side, has stated that they will thoroughly examine the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) report once they obtain a copy. Speaking to the media, Jain explained, “The order of the district court in Varanasi is out. The petitions from both sides have been accepted. Both sides can apply for the certified copies. Thereafter, copies will be handed over to them.”
He further mentioned that the court, in its directive, instructed the ASI to release the scientific report publicly and provide hard copies to both Hindu and Muslim parties. The ASI had submitted its report to the Varanasi district court on December 18, 2023.
Jain clarified that there is no mention of a gag order in the court’s decision. He highlighted that the order does not impose any conditions, and there are no undertakings attached. According to the court’s directive, the concerned parties are required to submit an affidavit to access the report, ensuring transparency and fairness in the ongoing legal proceedings.
Emphasizing the openness of the court’s order, Jain stated that the parties are free to apply for certified copies without any restrictive conditions. The legal interpretation underscores the commitment to transparency in handling the sensitive Gyanvapi-Kashi Vishwanath Temple dispute.
