The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has amended the rules to mandate the inclusion of five percent of female candidates for general seats. Pakistan will hold general elections on February 8, 2024, to choose the members of the 16th National Assembly. The Pakistani Election Commission released the full schedule on December 15. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), led by former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and the Pakistan Muslim League (N), led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, are the two main parties. She was hopeful about getting the party’s backing for her campaign, pointing out that her father had been contacted by the “senior leadership” to give her permission to run for the general seat.
