Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today emphasized that the Modi government has empowered all societal segments without any discrimination, but she also called for the nation to achieve economic independence.
While speaking at an event at DU’s Hindu College, Sitharaman highlighted the difference between the previous governments and the Modi government’s last 10 years. She stated that despite the tremendous energy with which India sought to expand after gaining freedom.
It was not too long ago that we started receiving telephones in our homes without a member of parliament’s approval. We were unable to obtain a gas cylinder without a referral until lately, she added.
She also claimed that we could not have better highways and airports until recently. We were unable to find sufficient seats in engineering colleges till lately. All of these are being increased today with an immediate sense of need. 50 years went by without a sense of urgency, she added.
Sitharaman stated that the Modi administration does not discriminate against its constituents, saying, “Today we don’t differentiate.” Not that some people should wait for it, but some should get it. PM Narendra Modi has stated that he is examining India today from four perspectives, one for every part of society. The poor, farmers, women, and Yuva are these.
She also noted that people are not classified by caste, community, or religion; everyone is involved in these four perspectives. The minister also mentioned the college’s illustrious past and urged students to take advice from those who came before them and fought for the nation’s independence.
