‘It Was Tied To Quad Summit…Couldn’t Get Everything Agreed By Everybody’

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that the visit was dependent on the scheduled Quad Summit and that the dates were inconvenient for all parties. According to Jaishankar, neither a landing zone nor everything agreed by everybody could be obtained there. Scheduling demands prevented US President Joe Biden from visiting India in late January.

Jaishankar further said that he believe that was a distinct problem, you know. since, as you are aware, it was connected to Quad as well, and we were unable to establish a landing zone there or reach a consensus with all parties. Thus, it was ineffective. He was questioned if Biden might have attended the Republic Day parade and if a Namaste Biden event could have been organized, similar to the massive Namaste Trump extravaganza that Ahmedabad hosted to greet US President Donald Trump during his 2020 visit to India.

It was previously reported by sources that the Quad (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) Summit, which India was supposed to host in January, will instead take place later in 2024. They had stated that as the present dates don’t work with every QUAD partner, revised dates were being considered. Biden was invited to India for Republic Day celebrations, according to remarks made by US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti in September. According to him, Biden received an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the September G20 Summit in Delhi.
