The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted dense to very dense fog in several North Indian states until January 2. The IMD has predicted light isolated rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh until January 4, 2024. The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rains at some places over south Tamil Nadu, south Kerala, and Lakshadweep until January 4, 2024.
According to the latest report from IMD, dense to very dense fog is likely to continue over many parts of the plains of Northwest and adjoining Central India and is likely to further extend to East India till January 2 and gradually decrease thereafter. The IMD also predicted cold to severe cold day conditions to continue over some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and north Rajasthan till January 2.
The IMD has predicted dense to very dense fog conditions to prevail in many parts of Punjab during the 31st and 2nd of January. Apart from this, dense to very dense fog conditions have also been predicted over Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh from December 31st to January 2nd.
