Former Miss India Tripura Rinki Chakma Passes Away

Miss India Tripura 2017 Rinki Chakma passed away at the age of 28 on Thursday. She died after battling breast cancer for the past two years. On February 22, Rinki Chakma was admitted to the hospital and placed on ventilator support.

But when her condition got worse, it became impossible to keep her on chemotherapy. Earlier, in 2022, she was diagnosed with “malignant phyllode cancer”, which required surgery.

But the cancer spread to her head and lungs, where it developed into a ‘brain tumor.’ In an effort to gather money for Chakma’s medical care, her close friend and Miss India 2017 runner-up, Priyanka Kumari, released her medical report earlier this week.

Earlier, in January, Rinki Chakma posted on her social media account that she was affected by a brain tumor. Her brain surgery is still pending, as it’s already widespread all her right side of body until her lungs.

She also wrote that the surgery will be possible if she heals with chemotherapy first, with just 30% hope. Malignant phyllodes tumor is a rare cancer of the breast affecting women, usually between 35 and 55 years old.
