The government has extended the import duty exemption on cotton from Sept 30 to Dec 31, 2025, to support the textile sector facing high US tariffs. The move aims to stabilize cotton prices, reduce inflation in textiles, boost export competitiveness, and protect SMEs, particularly in labor-intensive apparel and home textiles, by lowering production costs.
