Apple is developing a groundbreaking device that could revolutionize the tech world. This innovative gadget, still in development, features a large screen similar to an iPad mounted on a robotic arm. According to analyst Mark Gurman, the device will be able to tilt, spin, and adjust itself based on user needs, functioning as a central hub for smart homes. Users can control smart devices, make video calls, and monitor their homes remotely.
Integrated with Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, the screen will adjust automatically during video calls to focus on the user when prompted. The project, internally known as J595, received approval from Apple’s top executives in 2022 and is now moving forward with a target release around 2026 or 2027. The company plans to price the device at around $1,000, though this could change as development progresses.
This foray into robotics aligns with Apple’s strategy to explore new revenue streams, following the recent shelving of its self-driving car project. Apple is also integrating AI technologies into its existing product lines. Despite internal concerns about cost and resource allocation, CEO Tim Cook and hardware engineering head John Ternus are strong supporters of the project. Kevin Lynch, known for his role in launching the Apple Watch, is leading the effort with a team of top engineers and robotics experts.
