Madras High Court Orders CBI Probe Into Villupuram Liquor Tragedy

In a setback to DMK government in Tamil Nadu, Madras High Court ordered a CBI probe into the illicit liquor tragedy that killed 68 people in Villupuram. The state already transferred the case to Crime Branch wing of the CID. It also opposed the transfer to CBI. It argued that it has arrested 24 people, transferred the Collector, suspended the SP and transferred key police officials.
