Six people died and 14 others were injured after a truck carrying 60 tonnes of liquified natural gas (LNG) collided with a car and exploded this morning in Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar.
The Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on its official website that three people and three fighters were killed. Further, the NEMA stated that fourteen injured people were sent for medical treatment to a nearby hospital.
Of the fourteen injured, ten were sent for burn treatment, while one child was receiving treatment for poisoning. Three more babies were under surveillance. Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene, and the fire was put out.
Images displayed the wreckage of the car and truck that collided, as well as extensive damage to the street. A nearby school also saw window blowouts as a result of the explosion. Roads surrounding the damaged region were closed, and inhabitants of a nearby apartment building were temporarily relocated, according to NEMA, while authorities cleared debris, as reported by Reuters.
